The river Ness flows through the city centre. A short walk away
from the city along the river are to be found some of the most beautiful natural
areas in Inverness. The wooded islands in the river are linked by Victorian
style footbridges. Many species of birds and wild ducks live on these small
islands. There are paths which meander around the islands where you can sit on
seats overlooking the river and watch the fishermen casting their flies, ever in
hope of catching the elusive wild Scottish salmon.
